Horace Clarke
In the span of less than four weeks, Horace Clarke broke up three no-hitters in the ninth inning. With a ninth-inning single against the Detroit Tigers on July 2, 1970, Clarke spoiled the no-hit efforts of right-hander Joe Niekro. Earlier, the switch-hitting Clarke spoiled no-hit bids by Jim Rooker of the Kansas City Royals and Sonny Siebert of the Boston Red Sox.
